How long is the wait to gain access to the private preview? This looks like an awesome tool
Hey Matt, thanks! We're currently letting on 50-100 people/week, out of thousands on the list. We first let on people who have shared their referral links (we appreciate help getting the word out about our project!) then we take the list in order by sign-up date.
We're also planning to flip the switch to make our beta fully public... soon. :) Design tools require a lot of polish, and our private beta users' feedback is guiding us.
Does Haiku support web? I believe Lottie does already.
Yes, it does — with either vanilla js or our React adapter (Vue and Angular 2 coming soon).
Hook me up, I can give you some feedback as an Animator.
Will do! We'll certainly appreciate your feedback.
Looks great! I just applied for an invite : )
How does this compare to Bodymovin? What's the type of file that Haiku exports? I've been an advocate for Bodymovin + Lottie for some months now , and I created a module to incorporate Bodymovin into prototyping with Framer .
I'm curious to know whether or not this would be compatible with Bodymovin or if Haiku's engine can be ported to other tools (like Framer).
Also, I see that Haiku features interactions and states. Is this a different code layer on top of the animation or does it come bundled with it? Would the code change depending on platform?
I have lots of questions! Thanks and good luck : )
Hi Juan, we've seen your work on bodymovin-for-framer — awesome job! It's a lot of work to integrate such complex technologies.
We call our core engine "Haiku Player" — it has a lot in common with Bodymovin, but has a key difference: Haiku Player is a full app runtime, supporting internal code (interactions, expressions, component composition, states) as well as animations.
The way we support Lottie is by exporting to bodymovin's json format — but along the way all of the interaction features from Haiku get chopped off. In fact, I'm meeting with the Lottie team at Airbnb next week to discuss possible ways to solve this!
Finally, we're preparing to open source Haiku Player very soon — we want it to belong to the community. We also aim to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the Bodymovin/Lottie ecosystem. For example, here's a Haiku-created animation on Lottiefiles — and the same one in Framer, via your plugin :)
Definitely want this.
Looks promising! Can't wait to give it a go, hope I get an invite soon :)
