Ask DN: What (simple) web analytics software do you use?

almost 6 years ago from , Designer at LoungeBuddy

I used to use Mint by Shaun Inman, but since it was discontinued, I switched over to Google Analytics. Truth be told, GA is too complex for what I am looking for, and was hoping someone here may have an alternative I can check out. Really only curious what pages people are interested in, who might be referring the views, and where people are coming from.

It depends how much traffic you get, but GoSquared should meet what you need on a free plan.

Mint was awesome. But, as a member of this community I feel I couldn't leave this post answered – I'm one of the founders of GoSquared, and part of our platform is a super simple, real-time web analytics product. If you're interested, or have feedback for us, we're all ears. https://www.gosquared.com/demo/

Was the "free" plan Steve mentioned discontinued? I'm always willing to pay for a service, but this is quite expensive if you're not a business or expect a lot of traffic. Would you say GoSquared is more for businesses/larger sites then?

Hi Jonathan, sorry for the slow reply on this. We do deal with a lot more businesses these days, but love to support the design community wherever we can. Ping me on James at GoSquared dot com :-)

    Hi Shaun

I do not know if your question is still relevant to you. If you still are in the market for a free GA alternative, then I suggest you check out Canecto.com. It has some features on user behaviour designed for what I think you are looking for.

It can tell you a sites top and trending User Interest based upon user content interaction, not pages views. It even tells you what converting users were interested in on any page, compared to non-converting users. I am the CEO of Canecto (so sorry for the sales pitch - but we really do like our product) Anyway, if you do check it out, please let me know what you think, thanks / Per.
