Hey DN!
Today marks exactly 3 years since I first posted my portfolio to DN. To mark this occasion, I deleted it and replaced it with a new one!
I started disliking the old site almost immediately, so I refreshed it for my most recent job search. As it stands, I don’t hate it quite yet.
Tomorrow’s my first day at GitHub, so I’m stoked to start fresh. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new site :)
Have fun at GitHub!
Congrats on the launch! Joel Califa is still sad after all these years!?
It's a process!
New portfolio looks great, and congrats on the new gig!
See you soon new work buddy
Your original portfolio post + the overview of how you got hired at DO were some of the things that made me want to be a part of this community.
I'm surprised it's already been three years since. Congratulations and good luck at GitHub.
That's great to hear. Thanks for the kind words, Labib! :)
I really enjoyed the personality of it and the simple walkthrough of your work. It put a smile on my face before I ingested any coffee so good job, man!
I am sad you did not optimize images.
Hey, you're totally right!
I'm using a generator on jekyll to output a srcset and serve different sized images for various breakpoints, but I never thought to further optimize those outputted images.
On my todo list for next week :)
Joel, love the writing behind the features you've worked on. The detailed breakdowns are fantastic and help show why you made decisions.
Good luck with the new gig!
Congrats! Every portfolio redesign completed is a show of great design strength and grit. Well done sir, looks awesome!
I liked the idea very very much...
I love it, make me smile a lot. And these buttons, oh god. That's right. I'm feeling old.
Oooohhhhh those buttons
Great refresh! Design and content are both great. I really like the "visited" detail on the links under each job.
