Best Font Manager for Mac

FontExplorer Pro doesn't work that well since I updated to Sierra and I'm looking for a replacement with similar features. Is Suitcase Fusion the best font management app now?

      Fontbase way exceeded my expectations. I've been using RightFont, and it does an OK job, but I don't like the interface. I like to organize my fonts in groups and doing this in RF is not nice. I might just switch to FontBase!

        I've had the same exact experience. I found it because I needed a manager for Windows and that seemed like the best bet. Now i might switch my Mac over too.

        Ditto. I really wanted to like RightFont, and it's nice, but the UI just doesn't map to my brain right.

            100% agree. RightFont is definitely better than Suitcase (con)Fusion but the organization and UI really needs to get to the next level. Because I have 20 years of collecting fonts, I still get some pinwheels when scrolling through the entire library. I'm excited to check out Fontbase, thanks for the tip!

    Honest question: Which features do you want that Font Book doesn’t cover? Auto-enabling? The ability to handle 1000s of fonts well? Network sync?

    Just asking, because I find Font Book is enough for me these days.

      Auto-enabling and a large collection of fonts (that gets less organized as I switch font managers or computers) are important to me, network sync isn't. I didn't think of trying Font Book, thanks for the recommendation.

        Ok, fair enough! I used to use Font Explorer X, but that was back in the days when I did more print design, and had to constantly play with different fonts, and auto-enable helped with that.

        Now I’m mostly working on products, so they only need to deal with a very limited range of fonts.

      One of the features that I'm looking for is a place to store Fonts I've purchased. Font Book is great, but it doesn't seem to have an iCloud sync store associated with it. That being said, I think it would be trivial for Apple to add iCloud syncing to Font Book.

      One feature that is missing I think, Is the suggestive features while searching for a particular character on a font sets. Especially if you have hundreds, thousands sans serif fonts :D

        I think if you have hundreds or thousands of fonts, yeah, you’re probably beyond Font Book’s abilities! Last time I tried with lots of fonts installed it was pretty slow, too. It seems good for very light use though.

    Ive been a suitcase user forever and have no complaints. Its really not that expensive for a tool that your going to use day in a day out.

    My needs for a font manager are very few, but I really like Typeface. Has a few really nice design considerations, like overlaying the baseline and x heights over the fonts, and having a shape/size compare for when you're tossing up options.

    If you're serious; Font Xplorer.

    I've tried them all. Font Xplorer is the best by a country mile.

    As a font power user for many years who misses the reliability of Font Reserve (acquired and ruined by Suitcase) I would suggest strongly to skip Suitcase, especially if you have a robust font collection. It's glitchy, somehow fonts manage to become corrupt over time, and their customer support is some of the worst I've encountered. I switched to RightFont and it's much better, but lacks powerful organizational features and you would miss that if you are used to FontExplorer. I am now trying FontBase and hoping it does the trick.

    I use Typeface, if you don't need features like activation font ecc… but just want to browse through your collection is a very good option
