http://www.getskeleton.com/ is extremely lightweight and responsive. Like the name says, it is just bare bones.
Yep, Skeleton is my preferred framework
Another plus for Skeleton here. It's lightweight and super easy to implement.
I prefer to use a CSS reset and then write my own grid from scratch. Seems far more flexible and light weight this way. Most frameworks have far more code than I really need.
Toast (http://daneden.me/toast) is a very simple one.. I use when building from scratch.
I've been using mainly bootstrap for bigger rails projects, it's great to fast development, and with the right css, it looks nothing like bootstrap. For other smaller static websites, I've been using gumbyframework.com, it's lightweight and it features a lot of small useful things, like forms, error validation, simple JS stuff. I also used skeleton before, but I found the documentation to be extremely weak, and I had a hard time figuring out some of the specifics.
http://semantic.gs/ is my favorite. ports for less, sass, and stylus, simple, responsive, works nicely.
http://semantic.gs/ is great if you're using a preprocessor. I have not seen another that is as small, simple, and straightforward. Also, very easy to adapt.
+1 for semantic.gs, very lightweight and customizable
Neat by Thoughtbot: http://neat.bourbon.io
It's a really awesome Sass framework built on their library of Sass mixins. I've used it on every project I work on since they released it.
I just look at GridPack : http://gridpak.com/ And this is a great grid, you can choose how many columns you want on small device, how many on large device and again on desktop. Think it's a better solution that give us a 12-to-1 layout without any settings!
Neat gets my vote.
Bootstrap for sure. Allows for complete unstyled usage for the most rapid of prototyping, but is also so easily re-skinnable that you'd never tell it is bootstrap. Like Foundation replaced 960gs and Blueprint, Bootstrap replaces the rest.
Also, there's another identical "Ask DN" about this three posts up.. https://news.layervault.com/stories/834-ask-dn-bootstrap-foundation-skeleton-or-
I have used Zurb's Foundation in the past and think it makes for a wonderful grid system.
Foundation 4.0 is due out soon and is going to be a mobile-first strategy. Can't wait to test it out.
I stumbled across Helium this week and it looks really promising. It looks to have the best of bootstrap and foundation at a tiny fraction of the weight. https://github.com/cbrauckmuller/helium
