I would buy this, especially if Apple switch to consumer GPUs, and the GTX1080 in particular.

I second this. I recently built a gaming PC but obviously would love to have the ability to have a powerful Mac AND gaming PC in one device.

    Does it make coffee too?

Oh man, if Apple would use high-end consumer hardware such as the GTX1080 I would be all over it.

Dear lord, the other products too are amazeballs.

Two thoughts other than the obvious (I love this):

    • "Uncompromised" is actually a great tagline.
    • Would probably put the headphone jack on the front.

    Already outdated - needs USB-C

Gone are the days when people were redesigning iOS / iOS app icons.

Keeping the passive aggressive tone aside, I think these designs are fun, what I would love is to see some research before this design. Right now it's just aesthetics like dribbble post. This Reddit thread summarises how impractical this is.

Shiny pictures, unfortunately it wouldn't work - put two 1080s in that thing, put it's case back on and watch it melt.

not if the cooling is right.

      open empty space != cooling

Surely if you're seriously designing something thats supposed to have a practical application, and ignore one of the biggest constraints and problems with case design, you're really just making some art.

Once the side panel is back on that case the GPU's fans would practically be touching the side. If you don't have airflow, it doesn't matter how many fans you throw at it. Let alone the fact we can only assume the CPU is mounted somewhere in the middle, so it's got two 1080's either side - the CPU is surrounded by heat and has no cool air coming into it, unless theres a fan somewhere with a airflow channel directing at the CPU, which there isn't in the 'design'.

You could water cool it, but really, aside from having nowhere to mount the reservoir, it's not very 'apple' is it.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter - it's a fun exercise in designing something with no practical application. What irks me is on this site, when people do that for facebook or whatever they get endlessly bashed about how it won't work in the real world, but someone does a few renders of something that won't work in the real world and no ones making the same argument. I don't get it.

If you read my initial comment and thought 'oh come on it's just a bit of fun and practice', remember that the next time someone posts their redesign of linkedin.

Cooling is about having air moved to and away from components via heatsinks not space.

Please re-read my comment and look at some multiple GPU builds.

Obviously the designer hasn't done any major airflow design for this but the basic concept isn't terrible and actually cases like this exist on the market

I do love being patronised by people who don't really know what they're talking about.

I've build more multi-GPU rigs than I care to remember, my current gaming rig is two 980's in SLi, aircooled in a HAF-X with 3 120mm case fans and a watercooled CPU. I've done this before, a lot.

Okay the two of you are both very smart people who have reasonable opinions and knowledge of the topic at hand, and all of us reading can see that. Congratulations, I hope you're proud of yourselves.
