Hi all, I'm looking for suggestions on Pingdom / New Relic-like tools to monitor website changes for me. I'm looking at monitoring things like files not loading, style changes/errors and just general error catching. Are there any open source solutions for monitoring like this? Thanks!
Pretty happy with Updown.io
Thanks ☺ (updown.io founder here)
Likewise, very useful for helicopter view of multiple domains/sites.
My friends are developing https://www.rorvswild.com/ but I don't know if it's the right tools for your site (Rails)
o shit this is sick, thanks for sharing!
I think you will like https://rollbar.com/ as it does exactly what you are looking for.
Have a Good day.
https://sentry.io works pretty well for me.
Quite happy with the free https://www.statuscake.com/
I totally back this! I've used Status Cake and was very happy with the results.
I'm using this service too, it's a great product and service, simple to use, high quality and low price.
If you're looking for open-source in particular, try the projects on github. Tons of options.
Visual monitoring could be done with https://visualobserver.com/. 2 URLs free.
Hi, we'd highly recommend to try out Monitis (www.monitis.com). It has great website monitoring solution, smart alerting system and 15-day full featured free trial. Afterwards you'll be free to choose between free and tailored plans.
Thanks all. Ideally I'd like something that monitors website changes on code pushing, and regularly checks for missing page resources/console log errors. Uptime monitoring would be useful but I was ideally looking for something along those lines too. Currently looking at employing this on some small Wordpress sites, but would use it on other platforms in the future too.
Most popular open source would be nagios/icinga, but I'd say it's too much hassle to set up. Pingdom actually offer a free plan (it's not advertised on the main signup page though) if you're just looking to monitor 1 site: https://www.pingdom.com/free
disclaimer: used to work for pingdom
For me, the cheapest pingdom plan has done the job. New Relic seemed like a total overkill; New Relic was incredibly aggressive in their marketing, I just signed up for a trial to take a look around and the next day they even called me, emails followed - it just left a really bad taste for me.
I get what you say but I actually loved that they got in touch to answer questions and help me get started.
I don't know what exactly do you need but from your description I'd say Google Search Console could be sufficient...
