I wish I could expand the article I'm currently reading to 2x the width. Would keep the novelty of the format while improving readability. Also question the stark contrast and small font size...
Overall it looks really good, but I wonder in these novel news sites how readability affects reader retention in the long term. To me, it feels like an effort to read them, even though I appreciate the design.
doubt this was ever tested on a windows machine. all these scrollbars give me anxiety.
I think there's such a thing as trying to be too smart. This is a very interesting layout, but it just doesn't work that well for text content.
I can't really fault the design for trying though, I feel like walking that fine line between unoriginal and over the top is one of the hardest thing in design…
Feels very fresh, but I'm not sure if it's cluttered or just new.
I feel the same. Making the vertical scrollbar thinner would help, I think the gradient sufficiently indicates scrolling is possible.
