Thank god.

Really? I'm not seeing the change on mine. Am I doing it wrong?

same here.

The bigger issue for me is they got rid of the bottom layer as key for aligning. Does anyone ever want to move two objects to halfway between where they are both located when hitting align? Surely one of the items is usually in the right spot and the other should align relative. The bottom one made sense to me. Really sad they reverted this change.

I'd prefer the furthest item in the direction of alignment get's the nod for final position of all items. I don't want to try to figure out the layer order in a selection of 30 items.

Not sure how that would work for center I think layer order makes the most sense barring an easy user control. The ideal though would be like illustrator where you can click a layer again after it is selected and get that to act as key.

I prefer David's suggestion, the first item you select in your selection, or your last suggestion. Searching for which layer an object belongs to is so tedious and painful.

no note saying which type of the alignment it now defaults to…

It now gives the extra whole pixel to the left and/or top respectively.

It now aligns unevenly. My preferred option anyway.

Awesome, now it's back to not functioning any more. Is it really that difficult to just align to the x or y-axis point that is at the extreme of the direction you want to align to even if it's a sub-pixel value?
Illustrator manages to do it for all their bloatware, yet Sketch can't even get it to work for almost 5 versions.
The dialog was a pain and unpredictable whether it'd pop up or not (I was hovering over the enter key to quickly accept the place on sub-pixel), but it worked. I had objects that aligned to the point I wanted. Who knew "default" behavior could be so terrible.
