Alternatives for less expensive email marketing?

Not enough money to pay for Mailchimp (80$+month for my number of subscribers) so I use Sendy and Amazon SES but there's no built in WYSIWYG email editor no AB testing etc... lot of features lacking. Is there any other alternative that is cheaper than Mailchimp? I found Curated.co which seems cool but I'm not sure I can find enough brands to pay for the cost (through sponsorship).

Most of my subscribers are Photographers so it's very specific.

So you have 8000 photographers of which close to 50% open it? You will probably have to look for a sponsor and put some ads in there!

Another one that you could try is SocketLabs.com.
SocketLabs has the built in editor that you're looking for and it's very easy to use. It's not bloated with features either.

What's your audience fidelity and engagement?
You can try Patreon.com or something similar to change this situation. I really think that is better be transparent with your audience and try make something collaborative than change the service, way to send, quality, etc. and go through the risk to lose subscribers.

  Last campaign I sent on Nov 04 was 42% open (3308 unique open, 6255 total open), 4662 didn't opened (yet). 598 unique clic on links (7.5%). But the campaign before was 42% clic because I was giving something for free and exclusive for the subscribers.   So this last campaign was just an small "update"
  In the last two days I gained 90 new subscribers. Mostly because in order to download my free Lightroom presets you need to enter your email and subscribe to my newsletter. And people are ok with that.
  I have a Patreon set up for my side project Fujifeed (https://www.patreon.com/fujifeed). Maybe I should do a Patreon for myself but I don't know what's best. To have sponsors who want to put their products in my newsletter (I'm picky, I don't want to feature something I don't like so it would be mostly photography accessories etc..) or to try to make 20+$ a month through Patreon.

For wysiwyg newsletter design, we offer Mail Designer Pro - think Sketch for responsive emails. It can export as HTML that you can use with any email newsletters system.
