When using :focus - how do you show your users what field they are currently editing?

For example, desktop users have no initial feedback, but mobile users are given a keyboard to start typing right away...

I know there are sites like http://pttrns.com/ that show certain elements, but not accessibility orientated designs. Does anyone have suggestions?
