i know people are too quick to shout "plagiarism" here, but, uh... i'm not seeing anything that isn't a direct ripoff of Snapchat. they didn't even bother to change the name.
Thank you for this, I will be posting it later as my own.
Check out this project I've been working on: http://images.apple.com/v/ipad/home/w/images/home/ipadpro_large.jpg Not sure what to call it just yet, but I'm sure the folk @IG might be able to help me.
Looking forward to seeing it, check out this work I made
I made this.
The one thing I do appreciate about it is that they are trying to combat what IG content has now become - a very polished and scripted showcase where users post ideal images.
In the beginning it was rare to see someone post images that were taken on a DSLR and post-processed... but now it's the norm. IG lost it's raw edge and is trying to make people feel OK about posting normal, everyday things that won't ruin their carefully curated image history.
It's gotten so crazy many teens today delete all but what they consider the most ideal - going back over older images regularly and removing ones they no longer feel make the cut.
This may make a small dent into SnapChat, but nothing worthwhile.
I have mixed feelings about this. While I don't need to see ONLY the post-processed stuff, I do like that Instagram is self-curated by it's users right now; it may lower engagement, but it's one of the reasons I like Instagram.
If I want a firehouse of everyday photos, I look to Facebook and Twitter. Never quite got on the Snapchat train, but I'm guessing this is even more the case there.
If I want carefully selected photos, I go to Instagram.
That video is rather cringeworthy.
To be fair the SV video cringe barrier is pretty high. It's cringeworthy but it's no "Facebook is chairs", AirBnb "See through their windows" or Uber is "bits and atoms".
Agreed!
If I wanted snapchat's features I would use snapchat.
Seriously, just another feed of videos to tap through when I'm bored.
I don't want to use snapchat. but I wanted this.
Presented without comment:
Kevin Systrom, Instagram’s co-founder and CEO, credits Snapchat for developing the stories format. But he says it was always bound to surface in other apps. "My thesis is a story is a slideshow format," Systrom said in an interview with The Verge. "Just like > when Facebook invented the [News] Feed, and every social product was like, ‘That’s an innovation, how do we adapt that to our network?’ You’re going to see stories pop up in other networks over time, because it’s one of the best ways to show visual information in chronological order."
Blah blah blah you're all using it and you know it
Eugh, seriously... why? Another annoying function like "Video's you might like" on the search tab.
Genial!!!!
I'm not interested in these stupid Stories. I wish I could hide the entire Stories feature and hide the bar with avatars that now sits at the top of my stream.
Really mixed feelings about this. Step in the wrong direction in my opinion.
The beauty of Instagram was the quality and simplicity of my feed. I avoided using Snapchat because of this exact reason.
Whyyyyy Instagram... Why!
