Show DN: Talk Turkey

over 7 years ago from , Head of Design @ Canopy

I spent the last few nights and weekends interviewing my friends and building this site with Charlie Deets. The result is a series of candid conversations with some of the best designers I know about topics that I don't think we get to talk about very often like meditation, authenticity, anxiety, and heartbreak.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and whether you would like to read more! If nothing else, I hope this inspires you to have these conversations with the people you care about and feed the curiosity we so often leave unattended.

Enjoy: Talk Turkey

Really neat idea. Also, really difficult to overcome the feeling that I shouldn't be reading someone else's iMessage convo.

Really like this - especially the format. Amazing how a UI can make it feel that much more personal. Enjoyed the anxiety one specifically.

Only thing I'd suggest is tweaking the easing - the default ease-out doesn't land into place smoothly. It feels a bit jarring, especially on a phone.

A quick fix could be cubic-bezier(0,0.5,0,1). That easing function, combined with a slightly longer duration (maybe 600-800ms?) should feel a lot more natural.

    Nice work!

Loved the idea! The whole concept is awesome but it was a little bit difficult to read the conversation as the questions are right aligned and answers are on the left, my eyes went crazy! I get that it's a chat history screen and that's how it is in almost every chatting app, but I believe it'd be easier to read if all the bubbles where left aligned, specially for this case, when you (the viewer) is reading a conversation written by someone else.

    left aligned chat

Also a time stamp might be useful to see, or at least something to indicate when was the last message was sent.
