Show DN: Design Sprint Timer

Hello DN! We @ TaqtileBr have been running Design Sprints for a while now, and so far it has been awesome! We noticed that there weren't many free timers around, so we've recently developed our own to use throughout the process, give it a go http://timer.taqtile.io

    Looks great and works perfectly, would've been amazing if used some kind of monospaced typeface. I want a timer to be a reminder, but the jumping of the numbers makes it a distraction.

      Hi Wes, thank you for the feedback. For sure a monospaced typeface would help in that situation. We were considering including a theme switcher with the other designs we created and now I'll include your tip for one visualization.

    Awesome tool, I cannot wait to try it out. Honestly, I do not have experience with doing design sprints but I have wanted to incorporate it more into my process.

      Thanks Lila! You should definitely tried it out, when we first started was a little hard to get everyone (client and team) aboard, so we started with a smaller selected team so we could test the activities and outcomes, the results were so surprising and effective (given the timespan) that it became a regular activity.

    Love it! Would be nice to have:

    • Optional ring when the time is up
    • Being able to set alarms shorter than 1 minute (not sure why I can't)

      Hi Daniel, thanks for the feedback!

      • We wanted to include Ryanair's landing fanfare when the timer was up, but we though it would be distracting! Hahahah! Jokes aside it's definitely something we'll include, as well as a mobile version so we can display it on an iPad.

      • The time limitation was because there were no activities shorter than one minute on our sprints, but I'll be sure to implement.

    Have I missed the point or are design sprints getting really short. Why would you need an hour timer for design sprints?

      Hello Matt, the timer was not meant to time the sprint itself, but the several small activities that happen through the process. For instance there is a dynamic called Crazy 8's, where the group has 5 minutes to create 8 variations of an idea, this type of scenario is where we apply the timer to create a sense of urgency to incite the group (we, sometimes, give an extra 5 minutes so it is not so disappointing for clients that can't get many variations out of it).

    You can type "4 min timer" into Google/Chrome and it'll start a timer

      Yes, definitely! Our goal was to create a timer that created a sense of urgency through a concrete visualization of the time remaining. Something that is very important in some Design Sprint activities.
