After almost 9 months of hard work, it's awesome to finally start to show the app off in the build up to it's launch.
Awesome work, Norm. Can't wait to create awesome stuff with it :)
I was expecting very different kinds of comments here, tbh. The product looks good, but is this what web design has become? It is so generic, that you can even select from a list of devices. Because all that webdesigners do, apparently, is making coverpages for apps? I'm sorry, I don't want to be too salty because the UI looks beautiful and shows that the people behind it put a lot of thought to it... but webdesigners make more then marketing pages.
You are right, but I treat Blocs more as fast prototype website tool or tool for creating some small fast page without spending much of time to code it. Still if you want to do something more custom and personal, you must write code.
As of web design discussion, you must admit most of page designs right now, are marketing pages, that are composed very similar and also for good there are many creative, nice designed pages that you can't do without knowing how to code :)

I disagree with that. We work in a bubble and we believe that this is all that webdesigners do nowadays and it is not true. 90% of my time I make regular websites that aim to serve content. (Just to be clear, I am talking about cover / splash / landing-pages here, because I am not saying that there is no marketing in sites that deliver content.)
I believe a lot of people think, or maybe they want to think, that as a webdesigner nowadays you can only do 3 things: make WordPress sites by making child themes or buying thems and then customizing it, make web apps or make cover pages. Couldn't be more untrue. Sure all those things are happening, but how can you make a visual web design tool that lets you create beautiful and modern websites, that is exclusively for making cover pages, believing that this is what most of websites are nowadays?
Seriously I am not hating on the product, because at this point I have no energy left for yet another product that aims to profit from our bubble. You have obviously put a lot of effort into this and this alone has to be credited, so don't believe I couldn't appreciate it. But this is a tool for creating marketing pages and not a visual web design tool.
We hardly share our actual work. And when we write blog post or decide to share, we share a distorted version of what we would want our work to be. Noone cares about that nike shoe on a card with border-radius: 15px; and a gradient on the bg. The only real viable design tool to me as a frontend designer is BoxBox.
I get you stand point and for the clarity most of my end products are hand coded. As of bubble, yes we live in it, but many big companies use the same page compositions on there's sites. Seeing this people copy those patterns and the bubble is continued :)
PS. I'm not creator of the app, Norm Sheeran is.
Blocs is built as a kind of foot in the door app for those who want to try building sites. It's designed to be light weight, easy to use, quick to pick up and fun. I agree, web design is so much more and can be unbelievably complex if you want it to be, not everyone does.
huuuuuuge fan of blocs.
honestly can't say enough good things about this app... without a doubt, it's my go-to for quick layouts and development... thought we were getting this new version THIS month.... gonna be hard to wait til May....
great video for a truly great product..
it's funny... we complain about adobe rather failing us by not creating proper apps for prototyping etc.... but it AMAZES me that they missed the boat on this... i keep thinking....this is what Muse and all the rest of their miss-fires should have been like...it honestly blows my mind how wide off the mark they were with that, and how Blocs is exactly what many of us were looking for..in terms of web layout etc...
thanks norm... thanks a ton dude...
Time to unleash your creativity by designing the most generic site ever :-)
p.s.: Norm, the video looks good, I'm looking forward to give it a try.
The video looks great ! Does anyone have an experience with Blocs? I'm a bit skeptical.
You can try version 1 right now, it's not as advanced in features as v2 but you can get the general idea of how the app works. It's very straightforward and easy to pick up.
Are you offering a free / reduced upgrade path? I was actually thinking about purchasing v1this week but would prefer not to have to pay more in a month.
Yeah it's a free upgrade.
Cooming?
Yeah can someone fix the typo in the title?
Fixed :)
Edit: Did someone change it back to "cooming"‽
Sorry for that.
Just watched a promo video. I think he's over using screen panning.. At one point I felt dizzy - -; Aside from it, Blocs looks really promising!
Ha sorry about the dizziness ;)
I thought it looked slick :)
