Simple is a good US alternative from what I've heard. A friend of mine uses them and absolutely loves it.

I've been a Simple customer for a few years now. Can confirm, it's great.

I've been with Simple since they launched but haven't been able to use it. I'm married so this is a deal-breaker:

They've been "working on that" for 4 years now.

Number26 is similar. Love the service and the App. But it's currently only available in some European countries.

+1 for N26, best banking experience ever.

Still upset, that they wasted one precious space in the iOS tab bar for "refer a friend" which has no benefit for the user. I get where this is coming from, but still ...

    I love this part

We aren’t a bank yet, but we are applying to the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for authorisation to become one.

Canada is so behind in modern or friendly banking :(

If anyone is interested in a Dutch alternative with a banking licence, you should check out Bunq.

They offer regular Direct Debit, IBAN, Business accounts, iDeal and more whilst being in beta!

I'm still waiting for Atom to open its doors publicly. It seems like the most genuine and friendly bank in a very long time. Mondo is certainly interesting, but to me, Atom does it better.
