Obligatory: This is a beta, so please do not use this for production work. Love to get your feedback on what we hope is a fix to all your line height issues.

Features on the official release may be subject to change.

      Looks very promising!

Any plans for improving the vector pen tool behavior? For example, the ability to close paths by clicking on a node. This fails to work if you de-select the shape and then select it to edit again.

Also, the "path guide" that follows the vector tool cursor when the shape is open. This is extremely annoying, especially when you have to drag the cursor across the screen to click the "Close Path" button. Maybe the "path guide" is hidden by default, and holding option will show it — just a thought.

      Keep up the good work!

Chris - a huge thank you for working towards fixing this. While I know you guys get a lot of flak I know everyone really does appreciate what you're building. I for one have completed transitioned to Sketch and have dropped all Adobe products. Keep kicking ass folks!

Hi Chris, does this update fix the "whitespace" rendering problem with fonts? As in, the "content box" of the type will have extra space on all/some sides, making alignment with other elements impossible.

This is sweet! Glad to see more performance improvements. :)

I'm curious, any word on some sort of a Direct Select tool? I've decided to stick with Illustrator, for the most part, until Sketch comes out with a way to do this.

Compare these workflows for resizing and repositioning a window UI design: A lot of my time spent in Illustrator is selecting multiple anchors from multiple paths, shapes, and text to adjust and iterate on layouts, tables, etc. in really complex designs.

    Illustrator versus Sketch

Either way, it would be really sweet to see this feature in Sketch.

I have been ranting about this on Medium and Designer News for a while now, but I think the reason they don't do this is because most Sketch users are coming from Photoshop where such things were never an option, so nobody thinks about doing it that way.

People think Illustrator is just for icons and illustrations, they don't realize just how much more power it has for UI design and layout than Photoshop ever had.

Another thing I want in Sketch is the 9-point reference selector so I can resize and position items from their center or from the upper-right corner. I should just write an extension to do that, but it should be native.

Thank you so much for that example. Direct selection has been on our TODO list for a while, and having such a perfect use case will hopefully help us move it up in the backlog! : )

Well, I can't speak for the whole Sketch community, but I certainly appreciate the transparent communication I see in this thread regarding fixes, feature ideas, etc.

Awesome. Just tested a bigger document in 3.5 and then in 3.6. Canvas performance is so much better, finally!

I would love to have one feature I really got used to in the Principle App:

Spacebar + CMD + Mousepress for zooming in and out.

    Please bring this feature!

Only thing that really bugs me in Sketch is the fact smart guides ignore shift key constraint, the shapes like snap to something near THEN constrain so it's actually not in the right place at all.

Try using shift+command when dragging. It will override the smart guide snapping. The only problem is you can't do alt+shift+command to drag a copy, so I command+c, command+v a copy in place and then drag it. This has saved me from a world of frustration.

Thank you for the solution, but why didn't they just implement it the Illustrator way? Holding shift keeps you stuck to one dimension, but still lets you snap to guides along that dimension. Also lets you use Alt to copy.

Why make it more difficult than an already good solution?

Thanks I'll try that, might hold me over for now. But really constrain should mean constrain.

I know this is beta but it's great to see the Sketch team to dedicated to new releases.

They just put out v3.5 maybe two weeks ago? Awesome to see them hard at work on the next update.

This is great news for designers using sketch. The line-height issues have always been a pain point in the past. Thanks for the fixes and improvements.

Do you guys have any future plans to add more typographic controls? Such as ligature support, list styling, small caps, tabular/portionable/oldstyle lining options? I'd love these features in sketch, as I'm sure many other designers would. Giving us greater typographic control.

    Thanks, Rory

OMGOMGOMGOMG Bohemian Coding you finally fixed this.

Next: Line-height disruption when having more than one typefaces in the same text frame.

Great update. I love how the line height box now keeps the text centered. This was a huge pain before.

What would be great is a setting for mobile. Those bounds still don't exists on iOS or Android. So there's still extra effort in laying out mobile text and handing off specs to developers.

If it had that, i'd be very happy.
