Historyless text messaging doesn't make as much sense to me, since the chat history can have enormous search and memory value. I actually find myself wishing the opposite -- that face-to-face conversations should have a searchable history. This feels like a step backward, especially to be done on a smartphone -- imagine someone texting you an important information, such as an email or a phone number... "Hang on, let me write that down before the app clears it from the screen!"
Still, I think the landing page is pretty clever, and I'm curious to see how this turns out.
The landing page is very cool. I actually thought about giving my email, even though i probably wouldnt use it
I think this is more of a feature then an actual company. Then again Steve jobs told dropbox that they were a feature, now look at them. all the best of luck! looks cool!
yeah I liked the landing page I felt like I had to wait around for a the text to appear but overall it was nice and tight. The pixel rendering on the font was a bit strange but that could just be my computer
Never used snapchat... won't use this...
The animation bugged me a little. I missed the intro when I opened it in another tab so I had to refresh to see what it was and the timing was a dragging a little. I suppose its trying to get the point across.
I have to agree with most of what's been posted in the comments so far. I can't find a compelling reason to give these people my e-mail to see what this app is when it launches.
Can't we just use Google Talk with chat history off?
So it's a messaging app that doesn't keep chat history?
What's the point?
The same effect snapchat has: http://pandodaily.com/2013/07/30/hooking-users-one-snapchat-at-a-time/
I find myself starting conversations on snapchat but being limited by how many characters fill the width of the screen. I would use this.
Meh. I still don't see the appeal. Not sure I want another messaging app to switch between. Already have messages, fb messenger and snap chat. Also, would this app not be obsolete if messages just decided to add an "off the record" feature like gchat?
This is for the guy who is texting a girl and doesn't want his girlfriend to see. No history, no tracking, none of that.
Anthony Weiner would have been all over this.
