      I am using the alpha of polymail and it is my favorite mac mail client by far, I have tried many of them. Mailpilot I have been interested in but for me, only makes sense for a business email address. If you tweet the polymail team they will most likely add you to the alpha.

      Airmail has been my go to until polymail, its very solid, would recommend.

      also, I second the notion for new tab links... please DN, please.

      I say let the links remain as they are. The user should be able to make that decision.

      Although it is much more a common practice to open external websites into a blank tab/window.

      I don't know about everyone else but when I want a link to open in a new tab I tell it too manually. There's too many websites that react differently from one to the other.

        Stumbled over this comment and felt an urge to reply. I think this is superuser behaviour, and that most people (those we're designing for) just click the links. I admit that I don't have any numbers to back this up, though.

      Polymail is the best email app I ever seen. Features, design, usability are obviously awesome. The reason that is the best app, is because it is made by a smart team.

      Downvote the 'links in new tab' idea. It's easy enough to hold command and click (Mac) or long press/touch and 'open in background' (iOS).

    I've been using this for a few weeks alongside Airmail to try to figure out which one I like better. I like N1 quite a bit, but haven't made a decision yet. It could still use some visual work, i'm sure, but the mail syncing is perfect.

      I did the same thing. Really not a fan of the Airmail interface design and ended up using N1. Using Inbox on my phone which is a nice replacement for the Mailbox iOS app.

    Right now I'm using Spark on my iPhone, which is a really fantastic app. However, it doesn't play nice with Polymail, which is what I'm using on my desktop. Polymail has an iOS app coming sooner rather than later, and so I'm hoping to fully switch over when they're good to go on iOS. I would strongly recommend both apps!

    I was a huge Mailbox user on mobile and desktop. When it announced the shut down, I switched to Spark Mail on iOS. It's free and incredible. It has everything Mailbox had and then some. Mac client coming "soon".

    I was a huge user of Mailbox as well. When they announced they were shutting down, I tried a bunch of different apps but found that Gmail Inbox was the best for me. They have a good mobile app (iOS and Android). Although they don't have a desktop app (yet), I've just had to pick my battles. Mailbox was the only app that was on all platforms, Mac OS, iOS, Android

    I highly recommend Airmail. It's always been great and at a great price (support dev's!).

    Most of the other options out there try too hard to reinvent the wheel. I like email the way it is. No more, no less.

    Other's have Mac apps that are, for the most part, a website in its own .app container. That kind of difference is huge for a lot of reasons: UX, speed, response time and integrations across the OS.

    Back to Airmail; now that they have an iOS app too it's cool to get a unified experience on both platforms. Even before that Airmail was much better than Mailbox in my book.

    I'm quite picky about the tools I used, so I've tried different ones and found that having CloudMagic on my phone works best, and I use AirMail 2 on my Mac.

    If you're looking for a mobile app: the Outlook iOS app is actually quite fantastic and the best mail app I've used. Microsoft has their acquired people from Sunrise and other great apps working on it which is no doubt the reason why it stands out so well against the competition.

    I second Airmail. To me, the last few months with it have been awesome. It had ups and downs, but they're finally stable (at least, for me) and you can sync everything via iCloud to the just launched Airmail for iOS.

    I really like Outlook, Spark, Boxer and Airmail. I'm also looking forward to Polymail to become available on iOS soon.

    I'm now using Outlook on my iPhone and iPad but it does lack a few features which e.g. Spark or Boxer have like but those apps are missing other features :( - attach multiple files from cloud storage location in one go (only Spark can do this) - search in e-mails older then 3 months (Spark, Boxer, Airmail all can) - snooze to desktop (like Mailbox has) - save e-mail as PDF (like Spark, Airmail can) - short/long swipe gestures (like e.g. Airmail) - task/action list of e-mails (like Airmail) - TouchID / password (like Boxer has)
