I'm not colorblind, personally. But 8% of the world is. It's easy to forget how much harder basic tasks can be when so many user interfaces don't accommodate for these users.
Here, try it for yourself: grab Color Oracle (http://colororacle.org/) and try going just one day at work with Deuteranopia and see how it affects you.
My mate at work just showed me this. Really intriguing. Thanks Matt!
I always appreciate it when games think about this. For example, most "color-matching" games (think candy crush, bejeweled, bubble-bobble etc) also include a different shape or symbol to match on, either as part of the design, or as a special "colorblind" option. I'm not colorblind but I find it much easier to match on shape than on color, so I always turn it on.
Seems to me Sketch could easily do something similar for their "symbol" layer icon.
I'm color deficient as well. I had no idea there was supposed to be a difference in color.
I feel you, I didn't know there was a difference.
I empathize with you Cody. While I am not prone to the same issue, I believe in equal rights for those with Color Deficiency. I will pen a letter to the President and bring attention to the issue at hand.
