Youtube Open link in new tab - Play if tab is selected (UX in Chrome)

Have you noticed Youtube/Chrome/Safari have added the functionality to not autoplay videos when you open the video in new tab and don't select it directly?

Try ctrl + left mouse click (pc) or cmd + left mouse click (mac) and you will see that the video won't autoplay, only when you select the tab the video starts.

This isn't youtube, this is Safari. It doesnt render the media object until you focus the page, for a better UX and performance reasons.

SO thankful that this was implemented. I was on Safari for a couple of weeks (it was mostly terrible, so I jumped back on Chrome) but the lack of autoplay on YouTube was refreshing.

Would be cool if it paused the video when you left the tab.

  I often use YouTube to listen to music (through music videos), which means I navigate away from the video almost right away.

  Probably the browser that handles it :) so that's why because FF does not support it yet :)

I noticed this and loved it instantly. It annoyed me for a while that it did not.

They also just pushed out mute tab today. Right click on any tab and click mute.
