How to transition from a build designer to visual + build designer

8 years ago from , Corporate Marketing Web Manager at Blackbaud, Inc.

I've been working as a build designer (solely build visual designs provided to me by a professional visual designer) in a corporate environment for the past 6 years. Today I've been told I have transitioned to the visual design team and will now be doing professional visual designs and then the build (so the entire project is now in my hands) starting today.

How does one transition to a build designer "quickly" and provide the same quality that clients have received in the past?

I have experience in Photoshop capturing assets and taking measurements for build, but not much else beyond that.

Any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated. I'm sure others have gone through this transition and can share some insight.

I am the other way around, from visual to full-stack. My best advice would be go Photoshop-free and design with CSS.

I'm a little confused by your terminology. Are you meaning transitioning from a Front-end Developer, to a Designer + Front-end Developer?
