Which hosting provider and plan do you recommend for a platform like Designer/Hacker News?

    It's hosted on Heroku. Saves costs by not requiring a dedicated sysadmin.

      Wonder how this is saving costs. Isn't it expensive as f*ck after the first dyno?

        Depends on traffic and many other variables. But generally more expensive than other options.

        It's more expensive than say AWS, but obviously saves time in terms of what Heroku gives you. Plugins, manual scaling, integrated services like New Relic, etc...so it's a trade-off. I use Heroku for all my projects just because I like their software and metrics. But I know I could get away with something cheaper if I really wanted to put in the extra time.

          So, I am just on my own server at DigitalOcean. Managing doesn't needs to much time at the moment.
