One trial, please.
EDIT:Don't buy this app if you are fussy about design and typography. I've only used it for about 5 minutes and I've seen badly designed introductory slides, blurry icons (and strong anti-aliasing in general), some tool-tip text that didn't fit into the bubble properly, not to mention a crash. I also really don't like the jumble of different typefaces, small preview text, the warm tint to the menu and the fact that the 'new message' and 'send' icons aren't super obvious. But that stuff is certainly down to taste.
Thanks for the heads-up. Poor alignments and spacing are absolutely intolerable. Now since you just pointed out these badly design elements in 5 min which means you're quite sensitive on the visual part, it makes me wonder how did you live with Airmail in the first place? Or is it again, a taste thing?
Frankly, I do quite like how Airmail 2 looks. I don't remember having any problems with how the first version looked either, but maybe I've just gotten used to it, or maybe that's just how I like my email client to look, yeah!
I've been using the Airmail 2.5 beta for some time and I am quite happy with it. It's kind of a "dumb" email client, in the sense that it doesn't do any fancy sorting or auto-scheduling for me. And I appreciate that.
Thanks for the heads-up regarding some of the shortcomings of Mail Pilot 2, was considering buying it, will hold off for now.
Curious to see all the people happy with Airmail 2 — I find some issues with the typography, icons and general UI sluggishness (the list scrolling in particular) bug me enough I just can’t use it. Hard to put my finger on it, but it just feels as if the UI was closely modelled after Sparrow, but weighed down with extra bloat...
I'll stick with Airmail 2
I agree about the free trial thing. Working with email servers is touchy. I want to be able to spend at least 48 hours making sure this $20 (iOS and OS X) app isn‘t going to hinder productivity.
Just bought it.
It's not bad, but that agitating scarlet red color is omnipresent on all bold titles of the sender.
I haven’t found a way to get rid of it. Too distracting.
Reminds me ALOT of Sparrow back in the day
Sparrow had one great thing — showing only unread emails in your inbox. I haven't seen a client that has that option, besides Airmail 2, which does not want to pull my emails after 1 day.
No free trial?
I haven't used a mail app since I started using Gmail in an SSB instance. Keeps my experience consistent across all desktop environments regardless of platform.
I'd like to see a comparison between Airmail and this if anyone gets the itch. I've yet to find a perfect solution to email. All apps have their positives and negatives. I'm more concerned about User experience than the looks personally. It just needs to function well and be efficient.
The Dashboard tool would be amazing if it allowed different kinds of feeds - perhaps even an API. I doubt they will go that route...
I'll posit that somebody will replicate the Dashboard in an open way very soon.
Looks really interesting! I'm giving up on Mailbox, even with their recent update, and am trying to find a replacement.
The Dash feature looks especially interesting - but I wonder if that kind of data would result in me getting bogged down in the minutia of email, rather than being able to easily blast though it.
I'd definitely appreciate a trial though.
