Wow, fantastic work. Really blown away by the quality of everything here. The style is on point and doesn't get in the way of UX.
I saw your portfolio post a bit ago. I was equally impressed. Totally different style but you hit the nail on the head.
Thanks, Ian! That means a lot.
Awesome stuff as always, Ian :)
I want a CT Scan of myself on my site!
Is that actually you? How?
Yes! I had a CT for my lymph node that got swollen out of control earlier this year (you can faintly see it stage right under my neck). You can actually go to the hospital and ask for any medical record on you, including CTs. They just hand you a disk with the images on it, no charge.
Awesome (glad you're in good health)
Love love love it. Shows personality, but doesn’t get in the way of your work. And I’m jealous of your type choice, this Grilli font together with Aperçu is amazing.
How do you like Kirby as a CMS?
Sorry I didn't see this! I really like Kirby. I was never a fan of PHP after coming from WP dev, but his API choices are wonderful. And I really like committing to a repo, and pulling down on the server to deploy. No database backups or migrations.
That said, coming from app dev, it's weird for me to have the root of the repo also be the public folder. I have all of these config files where I have my index.php and that seems nasty to me. I never really figured out how to fix that.
Haha that is weird about having config files as siblings to your index.php.
I have did some custom wordpress development a couple years back, and developing for it and using it just seemed like trying to squeeze a full-fledged CMS into a blogging platform. Just felt like one big hack.
So do you think, overall, you'd recommend Kirby over WP?
100%
Sweet, good to know.
Bonus: ShopTalk episode interviewing Bastian Allgeier, the creator of Kirby
Ran into a few of your sites in design galleries and always wondered who designed them, great to know - awesome work!
Wow thank you.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I really like how the artwork is bottom aligned, makes for a refreshing change.
Looks awesome Ian, I really like the font choice actually. There isn't all that much to read and is a lot more interesting.
Minimal, Funky, I'm loving it! I really need to up my game seeing all these fantastic updates ;) The fonts look amazing on a retina screen.
Oh damn, I wish I had one to try it out :)
I like it, however it seems to be a little on the "trendy" side of things.
So slick Ian! Well done. Always been impressed with your design and dev eye, and ability to bring things to life. Anyone will be lucky to work with you!
Really cool.. Rare color :)
btw, what happens when I select the header text..?The text changes to some unreadable text..
Is that intentional?
Yep, just for funsies ;)
getting a 403 atm :(
Someone else from Germany had the same issue. Removed some IP blacklisting. Does it work now?
Yes! And it is a gorgeous site.
Hurrah!
Hey DN! This has been a while in the making. I started this redesign sometime in April of this year and have just this very second finished. Hard critique welcomed.
Typefaces used:
PS. Play with things that have '?' cursors :)
I'm currently available for hire. I want to meet all nutty agencies, nonprofits, record labels, artists, and rule breakers.
Much love, see you around next time.
