Hey Designer News Community,
I was wondering what hosting services would be best for portfolio sites? I currently am hosting at Awardspace, and experiencing a lot of downtime. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks :)
Github Pages. If you're not Git savvy there might be a barrier of entry to it but otherwise it's golden.
I use Jekyll (http://jekyllrb.com/) and host on Github Pages for free. It's a wonderful static blogging system that affords a ton of customization. It's free, easy to set up and it's never been down as far as I know.
Of course it's static, so you can't do server-side stuff, but for a portfolio site you shouldn't need those much anyway
