We all know Apple always leave a little flab on 1st generation products. I've no doubt the current Apple watch could have actually been thinner but of course that's a 'feature' we will see in the 2nd gen Apple watch.

They probably wanted to really make the screen edges of the original iPhone curved like the Watch but just hadn’t worked out the process. I imagine it’s not just the curved edge they had to solve but the pixel lamination and getting the glass to hold in place?
