Honestly, I fail to see any value in this whatsoever. I would never pay for this, not even a little bit, I don't think he's even properly drunk (4 beers? Come on).
No but seriously, I don't think this guy could give proper UX feedback even when sober. This video is literally just a bunch of meaningless and vain comments that barely hit the surface. Do people really want to spend their money on this? For the money he's charging I'm pretty sure there are UX experts totally willing to give you an incredibly more meaningful review.
You need to watch this: The User is Drunk
Obviously I've seen this ;) I know what the idea behind it all is, it's just that it's meant as more of a metaphor than an actually accurate method of giving UX feedback. In the screencast, this guy is obviously not the target audience, he's not a drunk teacher. More so, a lot of his 'drunken' comments come across as overreacting and just plain stupid.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I really fail to see the value. Honestly, for me it's not even of comedic value, it's just a guy trying way too hard. Call me a cynic :)
Haha. I personally think it's hilarious. In my opinion it's just something fun to watch and smart as well.
Actually I don't mind paying him for the feedback. I wouldn't expect accurate or anything even close to a real UX specialist feedback, all I want is an honest feedback from a drunk person or a stupid user and that's valuable.
If I believed he was really drunk or wasn't overacting, I would probably find entertainment in this as well. It just feels like some guy at a party who's had maybe one or two beers and just tries way too hard to act like he's totally hammered and stuff. I don't know. Each to their own, right? If you wanna pay this guy $250 to say some stupid stuff about your website, that's totally up to you ;)
Wow, didn't know that it's $250, thought it's way cheaper. ah then no I won't pay that much.
Yeah, he should have just done this for free if its going to be this useless. Even free, maybe not.
I hate this guy's act. This would be way more interesting if he was not tech savvy and also was drunk. He's just putting on his UX hat and tearing the site apart. Find me a real world, everyday drunk user that is pointing out the freakin' padding on a link.
The problem here is that this simply cannot work. People in our line of work are experts at presenting things in clear, understandable ways. Fundamental to that is the ability to identify "the point" of something, no matter how terribly it's presented. He can't hide the fact that he does understand the site, even though he knows why others might not.
Also, what's up with the blatant disregard for the target market? The visual style is appropriate, even if it's totally tacky.
His schtick seems to be based on the idea that drunks are always belligerent fools. I know plenty a happy drunk.
What a waste of time.
Haha, my thoughts exactly. Can't believe people would want to pay anything at all for this.
Yeah.. this guy is a jabrone.
Much like the sites he is critiquing... it's a great idea with poor execution.
Had me rolling:
"what's a lobby"
I think there is some useful critique in here, wedged in between (...obviously) drunken ramblings. I'd quite like to hear it from the client about whether or not they're satisfied with this.
Dumb - I'd rather spend $250 to get myself and some friends drunk.
Entertaining for a bit, but that's the extent of it.
I don't know if its a better value than say... UserTesting's Peek but I think for sites with broad appeal especially consumer facing ones this could surface insights that you might otherwise have passed over. Fresh perspectives help, even drunk ones.
For instance, he is correct that they do a poor job of saying with the copy what exactly the game is ( granted, he isn't a teacher which its clearly targeted at).
Worth $250? Probably not, its a little pricey but I don't think its without value.
