Warby Parker on mobile - Tilt your device to see more angles

over 8 years ago from , Industrial and UX design

Maybe this is old news but I saw this and loved it. Go to Warby Parker's website on a mobile device and look at a product page (such as https://m.warbyparker.com/sunglasses/women/laurel/tea-rose-fade). The last image shows the glasses on a model's face. Tilt your device to see it from all angles. Very fun and intuitive way of checking out the glasses!

Hover over the image to experience the same effect on desktop.

They should change the label (e.g. "Hover over the photo" instead of "Tilt your device") using deviceMotion event detection. It still says to tilt the device on desktop.

Detecting if that's even possible and changing the string to hover seems like low-hanging fruit, right?

Looks like the link goes to their mobile site, there is a "m" subdomain, if you remove it it will take you to the full site without the "Tilt your device".

I hate to hijack, but anyone have experience as a customer with Warby Parker?

I did the at-home thing for like 15 frames and they felt really plasticky. But I'm re-considering for some prescription sunglasses.

I also did the home try on and thought they were a little more plastic-y than I expected. A slight turn off for me but I still really liked them. Plus, you can't beat the price. Haven't ordered mine yet but will soon in a few weeks.

I've purchased eye glasses, sunglasses and prescription sunglasses from them several times over the past few years. I get constant comments on their style and have never had a pair break or get loose. Great customer service too.
