If you aren't wanting to commercialise this, you might want to think about open sourcing this. That way you might be able to keep up with facebook's changes easier/faster..?
THANK YOU! I hope facebook buys this from you and you make lots and lots of money. I've wanted to use facebook chat without looking like I'm just on facebook all day at work.
Technically Facebook made this. This is a webkit wrapper.
Still cool tho. I'll try it out :D
Technically, yeah, user facing product-ally not so much. Loving it so far!
I don't made this haha
oops :-)
messages as facebook chat integration as well....
Are you able to get group chats in Messages? I'm not, and that's the big reason I'd look at using Goofy instead.
I'm not sure to be honest. But I'm also not sure I'd want it, so I'm biased.
Group messages don't work, and things like images are wonky.
I myself use Messages.app it all the time for FB one-on-one chat, but that makes it a pretty incomplete integration.
Excellent work. However, I prefer using Messages.app as I'm using it for many different accounts as well. It's pretty simple to set up as facebook uses XMPP (Jabber).
Using React to make these apps is such an awesome idea. You guys should also take a look at Current for Mac, which is also pretty great.
@Joel React? Could you give any info about this?
Buuuu, 10.10 only.
Very nice, but maintaining this thing might suck. I am not privy to the details of implementation, but I'd imagine if Facebook changes some selectors, the whole thing will be borked ... re: defensive programming.
I thought the same thing. All Facebook has to do is add, change, or remove an element and this thing could look pretty broken.
I was quite excited with this until I saw it doesn't run on Mavericks... :(
I've used it on Mavericks.
Yeah, too bad :(
Seems quirky in features though. Preferences are listed but disabled, cmd+w doesn't work and notifications often don't send.
Other than that it's awesome.
this is pretty useful.
thanks! :)
I prefer Astro actually
I'll have to check this out. I currently just have my Facebook account signed into iChat/Messages but it'd be nice to have group chat support.
