Knowing the talented people at Supersteil it's probably something nice, but by scrolling the page it's totally not clear to me what it is and what I can / should do with it.
I like when they mention looking at your plane ticket and having Iris visualize the information for you.
I'm already looking at the plane ticket. All the info is there and legible.
That said, it still seems interesting and has potential.
I guess it's an anti-mobile app concept. They probably could have left off the mobile app at the end.
I understood nothing from the landing page. Is it some "nodes" or "wristband" or some kind of ... ?
What am I doing wrong?
Is this for real, or is it a joke based on Dave Eggers’ The Circle?
It's not for real, it's a concept designed by a few designers at Supersteil, during a Spark session. These spark sessions are two-to-three day sessions in which a few team members are given the time to brainstorm new ideas and basicly design / prototype whatever they want. You can read more about Spark here: http://supersteil.com/blog/432/spark/ and more about Iris here: http://supersteil.com/blog/455/meet-iris-shell-change-the-way-you-view-the-world/
But isn't this Google Glass without the frame?
I feel like Glass minus looking like you're wearing a computer on your face is a big improvement.
Sure I agree with you. But they could have explained that in just one slide.
My questions is why did they do an extensive case with features that are a lot like google glass and showing it like a new product? Or perhaps I'm missing something?
It's an imaginative concept, brainstormed and designed by a few designers in a couple of days, you can read more about the project here: http://supersteil.com/blog/455/meet-iris-shell-change-the-way-you-view-the-world/
Yeah I agree this page, in an of itself, is failing to communicate very much about the actual product.
"Google Glass without looking weird." That's all they had to say. Instead, I had no clue what Iris was until over half way down. Smart assistant?
I agree with others, very unclear, even if it is just a concept.
A LED screen inside the lens will project information on top of your regular vision seamlessly. No need to look away to view the information you need at specific points in time.
And this is powered how? I'm all for fun conceptual stuff, but no battery or way to power it? As my boy Vicini would say...
Actually Google is working on such a lens as we speak: http://googleblog.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/introducing-our-smart-contact-lens.html
