    The Medium publish button is a bit funny because you have two uses of the exact same button in a little two-step flow with different behaviour, one showing a down down and the other working just like a normal button.

      I agree. How would you suggest doing it differently?

        The second button might have different text, or the first one could be given an active state that makes it stand out less. Either way could solve some of the visual redundancy here.

          Yeah the second could be Publish Now or something that emphasises that this is your final step.

          The initial button could have a little downwards pointing triangle to the right of the text to suggest it expands open. Or it could be written as Publish…

          The second publish button could have an alternative look, such as white text on green fill, or other styling to create more contrast between the two buttons’ styles.

          Another option is that the first button could become greyscale when the dropdown is open, so it becomes less prominent and doesn’t clash with the first.
