That was great read, I'm sure I'll have some self doubt/imposter syndrome if and when I get a job in the industry so I'll be bookmarking this to read again if needed.

    Thanks

I'm just a little confused as to what possible hire-on project could be that was a 5am - 11pm commitment for 18 days.

I was curious, too, so I took a look at the work he did for Basecamp and it seems he really went above and beyond the brief provided by Jason. I'm happy for him and it looks like a well-deserved hire.

Yeah, it looks like he really put a lot of work into this. It looks like he coded everything up including a sample blog post introducing the new feature. Unless this guy is a freelancer and was able to put work on hold, I don't know how he would have been able to get all of this cranked out in between actual job hours.

It sounds like that's what made him feel like a fraud. He put in unsustainable, superhuman effort to get the job. That made him feel like he misrepresented himself, and got the job under false pretenses.

This is a great article which is broader than just a dream job.

What a wonderful story. Gotta thank Conor for the vital reminder that self-doubt thrives in dark places. I've been doubting my own abilities lately. Time to tackle the day with a renewed fervor! :)

Well worth the read, man! I constantly struggle with my very own feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Knowing these things are often self-inflicted definitely helps in identifying that things aren't as bad as you often think they are.
