I had no idea that plus sign at the top opened anything, mostly because there's no cursor: pointer to indicate it's a link. I'd make that change in the CSS (and bump the plus sign up a bit in size) to show people they can click on it.
Thank you for the feedback! Based on the general feedback I've gotten, I guess my suspicion about this one was right. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll do what I can to make it stick out a bit more :)
Looks really fine to me, as a Swiss graphic designer the minimal and clean approach is appealing! Be careful, that tiny + sign for the about menu could go unnoticed to some users, I would change that, increase it's visibility a bit (making it a darker shade could help).
I also really enjoyed your projects, good work :)
Thank you for the positive feedback, glad you like it :)
It is by far the most mentioned thing I've gotten during this first round of feedback, so the whole header is getting reworked soon.
Thanks! Hopefully more of them to be up soon!
I love the minimal UI, it immediately draws attention to the content. The work is also lovely.
The 'about' section at the top of the page would be a great place to include your email and mobile number. This is probably where people will look for it.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the feedback!
That is a good idea! :) I might try to do a 3+9 grid solution with a bit more information and some links to my CV and stuff like that as well.
Generally it looks pretty good. Minimal, refreshing.
But you should take some more work on the header. For me it looks not right, there's something missing. It's also very hard to read the text(especially at smaller sizes) and the arrow is close to unrecognizable. I also ask myself why you want to hide for avatar and description behind a slideout? It's your portfolio, so you (and your work of course) should be central.
Generally the light text throughout the whole page is very hard to read due to it's light tone - and it could also be slightly bigger. You know, text is there to read read, not to make a "clean" interface. ;)
Thank you for the kind words!
Most of the feedback I've gotten is about the same thing you're mentioning, so I definitely have to take it back to the drawing board a bit to do some changes :)
I've chosen to hide it behind a slide to really let my work take centre stage, but I will reconsider it. The header itself needs more work, as you mention, so I will see what comes out of that and reconsider the slide solution as well.
I'll give the text a bit of treatment :) Is it the body text you think should be a bit bigger?
The main problem with the body copy is hat it is set in Futura. Futura by itself is a great typeface, I really love it. However it has quite a small x-height and therefore harder to read than something made for body copy like for example Open Sans. Therefore you should bump up your body copy slightly. On my Full-HD screen the text is quite small. I know that I can zoom and that many people still use smaller screens, but also consider the iPad mini for example with its small screen.
Apart from that: I really understand your desire to set your work on the center stage, but since it is your portfolio, your visitors also want to know more about you I assume, so it's just fair to now hide your avatar behind a curtain.
If you ever need help, just get in touch -> @Chris_Krammer. :)
I'll put some more work into the body copy and see what comes out of it. The header is also getting reworked in the coming weeks :)
I just released my updated site with some of the projects I have worked on during my time at Kingston University in London.
I'm far from a developer, but I try my best. All feedback is more than welcome :)
