I'm going to work on Designer News out in the open today. I have some initial sketches of what I'd like to do, but I'm not sure where this will go.

Ryan and Kelly wrote some great features that need to be exposed correctly, so I'm going to experiment with a different direction for the layout.

We also put together a few LayerVault features that will make this a little easier (they're only available to me right now): Public pages and Watching.

I created a public Designer News project and put a "Watch" button on it. If you add yourself as a watcher, you'll be added to the delivery list. Meaning — the next time I deliver the project, you'll receive it.

I'll be working on the mockups until at least 1PM EST and probably between 3-6PM.

    Let's try this out.

The start of open source design?

    I dig it.

This is fun! I haven't seen LayerVault in action, this is a great demo. I can't believe you design for the web in Photoshop though. That's crazy.

This is a fantastic experiment. Thanks Allan :)

Layer Vault looks really, really good.

This is pretty fantastic. You could almost build a service around this entirely.

i.e. watch DN get redesigned, watching soft facade design an icon from scratch, etc.

You could call the service layer box… or maybe layer vault. Just throwing out name ideas, feel free to add your own.

Looks great so far—super clean execution. Also a nice peek at Layer Vault at work.

layervault is looking good, and watching is a great idea, congrats. Now we're only missing a live feed from the office and another from your computer screen and we could have a real-time live update of the work :)
