Ask DN: What is your tool and app set-up?

almost 9 years ago from , Creative at Noak

Hi everyone! I was wondering what kind of tools you are using on a daily basis. Not just for designing but also in general. Like as a freelancer, or to keep track of iterations, clients, mail, process, time. Everything. Maybe we can get some cool tips from one another. :)

Personally i use: Fantastical for calendar and to-dos, Airmail for (yeah.. you guessed it), Trello to always have an overview of projects and to give better estimations, Billy's Billing for the economy and sending invoices, Dropbox to be more cloudy, Webflow to make webdesign become real and Invision to keep a nice overview of my iterations.

Let me hear what you use!

    Here's the list:

    Admin & Accounts:

    • Expensify https://www.expensify.com/
    • Have used Xero in the past, and was great when I was freelancing for invoices and general finance management
    • I use Flow for personal to do list, and it's my favourite to do app (cross platform)
    • http://www.signable.co.uk/ for getting NDAs signed and the like
    • used Harvest for time tracking at my last company, best I've used

    Design:

    • Whiteboard to begin, but capture with https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/genius-scan-pdf-scanner/id377672876?mt=8
    • Google Slides to screen capture, and analyse existing flows
    • Balsamiq for mockups
    • Jira for day to day task tracking
    • Aha for product roadmap
    • Illustrator for anything high fidelity
    • Icomoon for custom icon fonts
    • In general this is all in google slides for group review (our teams are in different time zones) and then anything high fidelity is kept in Bitsync

Fortunately I'm not inundated with emails, so I haven't found a need to go crazy with mail management. I've recently turned off all notifications for my iPhone, and it's honestly bliss.

    Hope this helps
