Pretty interesting. I'm guessing you have a contractor responding to the emails, and you're providing affiliate links to OTAs to get a commission. Plus you're building a list of travel customer emails, which could be really valuable.
Personally, I don't think that sending an email is easier than doing the search myself on Expedia. But I could see this expanding into an all-around personal shopping assistant service, where you can send an email asking for basically anything, and you respond with an affiliate link or promo code for a relevant deal.
"prefernces"
I like the idea of a different take on flight search.
However maybe it's just me, but I don't see myself buying a ticket without being able to compare prices. How do I know the options you sent really were the best?
And on the other hand, if you're asking people to trust you, why make two suggestions? Why not just one?
I think this service could work if you included additional data, such as "this flight is cheaper than 87% of similar flights, and faster than 56% of them", so people know you did your research.
Sweet site. It would be great to see something besides 'sans-serif' for the font family. It looks like you tried to use 'FreeSans, Arimo, "Droid Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif' in a few places but that is being overwritten.
American Express does the same thing through their travel office, although you need to be a card holder. You just send an email to the travel agent, he/she gets back to you with suggestions, you pick the one you like best and next thing you know your flight is booked and you receive your itinerary. It is incredibly convenient, and I like how this now is accessible to everyone.
So is this completely automated, or is there still someone manually narrowing down possible flights that suit your preferences?
Great way to test the market and see if there's a need, without committing a huge investment in process, software, etc. We did the same thing with Crew to begin.
Yeah would love to know how this is done and/or any info on pricing...
Free for users. Person parses the data, enters it in a search (custom software). Then sends over the options.
Are you automatically parsing the input? Like if they say "Delta" you track that, and keywords like "Friday afternoon" get read?
