Yes 100%. Contacts from Dribbble brought in enough to make it my sole source of client work for nearly a year, also helped me work remotely a lot which in turn gave me more time to get my own startup off the ground.

It doesn't take much effort either, just spend 5 minutes posting what work you're doing each week.

You need to be able to spot the people who cut and paste the same message to 50 other designers from the people that have actually looked at your work though.

Best $20 I've ever spent! Responsible for probably around half of all my clients, all of which came through the "hire me" button. Usually more solid than opportunities that come through my website.

I have no intentions in hijacking this thread (with all the Dribbble invite shenanigans)-- Dribbble has been an amazing resource for me --having provided me a year of freelancing in the comfort of my own home with pleasant compensation.

Many of the folks here are right in saying that you must weed out those who spam inboxes in desperation for a quick million -- you'll probably read the cardboard as well as you could taste it. Take caution and be brave... don't be hustled into compensation that doesn't align with your value -- shoot for the stars and they might surprise you back.

Yes, absolutely. Pretty much every client, including my fulltime job now have come through my Dribbble profile.

I've had nothing but junk enquiries from Dribbble but I don't know if that's because I don't really curate my presence on there very much.

Typically I'm sporadic in what I can and do share and it's often literally work in progress stuff rather than polished app dashboards or UI widgets for mystery products that never see the light of day.

I've often thought about experimenting by creating a project brief for a fake app/site and then working my way through sharing screenshot visuals of that but really nicely presented and seeing how different it was lead generation wise.

For me math is simple. Around 80-90% of my clients come from Dribbble. However it'd hard to say if having PRO badge makes any difference.

Sure! Actually I've received 86 work inquires last year, and in my experience, I will only focus on the inquires start with 'Hi JJ(my name)', all others that start with just a simple 'Hi' are usually low quality spam-like invitations :D

As others have noted you have to really filter and qualify leads but that's any source. Dribble just makes it easy to spam folks though.

For me- it hasn't been useful at all. But this is because I just got it a month or so ago, and have been posting older work. Read that as in the popularity contest, I'm at 11 followers as of right now with my most viewed being pseudo-parodies.

I have a few very well known designers for friends and they say to get an offer every two days or so. I really think it boils down to how many followers / likes you get as that's what gets you to the front page and gives the exposure you need.

I get tons of crap leads on there (casting a wide net approach), but occasionally I get a really solid opportunity come through. I made about 25% of my freelance income from Dribbble over the past few years.

AngelList is by far a better resource for real, higher paying work for me.
