Anyone on DN in the Washington DC area?

I've had no luck finding design related meetup groups in DC and would like to meet with local designers. I know you guys are somewhere out here! Maybe we could start a meetup group so we can talk and learn with each other.

Lets build a better design community in DC together!

What sorts of design events are you looking for? There's a bunch around on meetup, eventbrite & twitter.

As mentioned, Refresh DC is great for more web focused.

There's a Dribbble meetup Thurs Sept 4 if you're interested in connecting with all sorts of designers: https://nvite.com/dribbbleDC/f2c

AIGA hosts some decent events from time to time. http://dc.aiga.org

There are a TON of ux events going on. I've really loved UX Dinner DC: http://www.meetup.com/UXDinnerDC/

If you're interested in more Dev events, there's a lot of good groups on meetup. Also, SassyDC holds monthly talks.

There's also a free conference Saturday 23rd called ContraryCon: http://contrarycon.com

I've also met a lot of awesome folks in the greater DC tech sphere through DC Nightowls. http://www.meetup.com/dcnightowls/

If you aren't already, start by following all of the event organizers on twitter. It helps tremendously in being aware of the different design related events going on in DC and what various folks are up to.

When I was in DC, I really enjoyed the NOVA UX Meetup series.

Thanks Brian, much appreciated - Brendan, you're welcome to join us at any of our upcoming meetups. We hold monthly events, usually at AddThis HQ in Vienna, right down the street from the Spring Hill Silver Line station.

I work for LMO who has offices in Baltimore and Arlington. Refresh Baltimore has been a great event so far. There's also a UX Designer meet and greet next week.

Haha yeah we're working on figuring out the hosting stuff part - more looking at partnering with events and creating our own rather than just acting as an "event space" for random groups (if that makes sense). There's some good stuff coming soon though, I promise.
