Wow. A redesign that actually walks you through the decisions they made and improved the overall user experience. Bravo!
This is one of the rare Behance redesigns that I can get behind. Nice job.
This is a good redesign. One of a very few that really makes sense.
Thank you, Robin :)
That's a pretty decent redesign!
I don't think the origin link should be collapsed, I sometimes use that for reference rather than for copying.
I also don't think the Locked and Stationery Pad checkboxes should be in the tagging section, they're nothing to do with it.
I'd be interested to see the file location segment with a longer file path. Would it go onto 2 lines or collapse up to try and fit more on one? Or just have an ellipsis?
I would also like to see more information when selecting multiple files. I know it's not any less than what Apple currently show, but since you're doing it....
You've also lost the icon! How do I change icons now?
Overall a very slick redesign! Good work.
This is surprisingly good. It'll face some tricky challenges localizing those strings. Curious to see how that could be solved.
Damn long ass German words.
I really like the idea. Great job. Although, I'm not sure about the animation you use on movies and images when hovering the thumbnail. I think it should scale up from the thumbnail itself, not the top left corner.
Okay, come on developers. Make this happen!
Very well done and presented.
Is someone able to post a screenshot of what get info looks like in Yosemite for comparison?
Thanks!
Great execution. But is this really a problem? Most of the proposed "preview" improvements are already available in Finder's column view. And this doesn't require a keyboard shortcut or right-click to find.
The content not withstanding, it's a very clever presentation technique using seamless png's & gifs to show the whole scroll-story. Nicely done!
Great work Denis.
I was happy, then I tried to get info and I was sad. I somehow thought this was real. This panel definitely looks a lot better than the current state of affairs. I don't use getinfo
as much as I used to, but now that all of these issues and design solutions are pointed out, I wish it worked the way you guys designed it.
Ohh, multiple files... This is actually an important thing for usability that has been ignored for a long time. It's a pain sometimes to accidentally open an endless action of opening hundreds of windows.
Opening separate windows should be accessed as secondary, like "Create new folder with selection (x items) ".
Great work! o/
I'm so happy to see a redesign that is the product of logical decisions. I wish I could up vote multiple times.
Let's get more of this content on DN.
Nice and neat, when switching from Windows to OSX I missed the one info window for multiple files.
Cmd+Option+i, or hold option to change the menu item to do multiple files at once.
Thanks. I didn't know this. Though it would have been easier if cmd+i could do this for multiple files.
Wow, thanks for for the tip!
This looks great. When I first saw the link, I got excited for an update to it in Developer Preview 5, as I had noticed the same old info panels when I first installed Preview 4, but alas…
I think the on-hover stuff for videos and images are slick, but probably isn't obvious to anyone. Some kind of icon (even a fullscreen icon) would help to show that you can actually take a better peak at the file preview. Otherwise, I totally dig the showing video stills vs a preview, which in this case of movies, means skipping past studio logos for a while.
The grid lines also feel a bit off-theme for Yosemite.
Have you seen the new info panel for iTunes content?
I've learned to love Cat Power since I last listened and rated this album in iTunes back in 2008 :-S
I'd like to see this on my Mac
