If you would take out all the ornaments, would the product still work? What would a simpler version of these cards look like? Do you really need all those fonts? What if you didn't have cards, just something digital - what would it look like? Why is there a question mark in your logo?

On a serious note, I really like this idea. I find myself using the mental note cards quite a lot. Not for myself, but to help when brainstorming with clients or team members. I would really like to see some good questions that you can ask collectively; this would help clients give better feedback on your designs.

Great idea, Kyle! How many cards/questions would there be?

Also, if you really want to gauge viability you might consider taking pre-orders now using a discounted rate and seeing who actually forks over the cash.

      Thanks for the input Darren!

Right now I have 54 cards the same as a full deck of playing cards (with jokers). My next step will be to take preorders. Trying to see if people are interested before I start taking any money though.

    Hey DN,

I have had this idea for a while now about creating a deck of cards just for designers. And I am taking the first steps to make that idea a reality. But before I print the cards and sell them I need to validate my idea. So here is the idea:

A deck of cards that improves your designs by raising questions typically asked by an Art or Creative Director.

I would love to hear your thoughts. You can help me get these to print by sharing with your friends and signing up for the newsletter!

    Thanks beautiful people!

I think this is an excellent idea! You mentioned wanting to validate the idea before printing and selling.

Here are a few honest thoughts I had when looking at the site (very nice btw):

      • This is the type of thing I would expense but might not purchase with my own money depending on my role.
      • Speaking only to their functionality and not their quality, I would pay $30-45 for the deck.
      • I hope all the cards are generic enough to use on any project but specific enough to use often. If all of the cards are similar to the sample questions that are on the site - I'd say you nailed it.

As a side note - I could see this being an amazing tool for training a team on how to discuss designs.

We've all been in meetings in which finer details are discussed too early in the process. These cards would be a great exercise in scoping a discussion.

Good thing for the studio. Imagine the team would use em. Sure they could end up being stuck to peoples monitors.

Does anyone know what the font is being used for the logo on that page?

It's a fun little idea and I could see myself using these from time to time. Would probably get them if they're not too expensive.

Love these for design reviews. I'd buy a few packs for our office. Reminds me of Jason Fried's list of questions he asks when reviewing a design: https://signalvnoise.com/posts/3024-questions-i-ask-when-reviewing-a-design

IDEO did this a while back. They're great but way overpriced. http://www.ideo.com/work/method-cards

Cool idea and nice style :) What do you think about an app? Wouldn't that be great?

I have thought about an app I think that would be cool too, but I feel like there is benefit to having something tactile sitting on your desk. It would remind you to use them more.
