Really nice little tribute. I didn't realise he was the voice behind the latest TV ads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiyIcz7wUH0
TV spot was pretty good before, now it's haunting and chilling.
Being skeptical doesn't have to mean being a cynic. Whenever an actor dies iTunes has Editorial work on a tribute to showcase their work, and it's done with respect and tact in mind (Paul Walker's tribute made no mention of movies that involved racing.) I know this because I have a friend who works there who very lovingly crafts this content and is first and foremost a writer, and not a salesperson.
Robin Williams was something of an unofficial mascot of San Francisco, and it makes sense that a Bay Area company would want to pay tribute to him and put some sympathy and empathy out into the world.
I drove by the Mrs. Doubtfire house last night, at 10pm there were dozen people standing outside and the stairs were completely covered with flowers and candles. Folks from all over San Francisco (Apple employees included) share in this grief.
Just for those wondering, "What will your verse be?" comes from Dead Poets Society - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_lp6pKODD4
An incredible glimpse into the deep themes of any passionate life.
What is the link between Apple and Robin Williams?
Publicity?
It's a good way for corporations to show their soft gooey side I suppose.
He was the voice for this Apple ad http://mashable.com/2014/08/11/robin-williams-apple-ad/
Today I learnt!
Robin Williams is an international icon, and a national treasure in the United States :)
And the U.K
R.I.P. Robin Williams.
