    Question: the tabs icon is in the top right originally. When you tap on that and enter the tabs view, the new-tab button is now at the bottom right. Isn't that a long move for the finger for such a common action?

      Hey! The New Tab button and the Google search field actually both have the same behaviour: tapping either one will open up the New Tab screen in which you can start typing, albeit with a different animation. Tapping the search field would simply move it to the right and transform to the New Tab screen, where tapping the floating button would animate a card in from the bottom with the New Tab screen in it.
