Why Spotify is killing iTunes (uxinspired.com)

Considering the fact that apple just redesigned iTunes, I don't see why this article is using the "old" iTunes as reference. I agree with all the other points though.
I made a switch from iTunes to Spotify a few months ago… but I’m not convinced yet, just because of 1 single feature: iTunes Match. I loved to have all of my recent music available in the cloud, specially music from several more obscure bands that Spotify will probably never have. So just give me something with lots of music available and the opportunity to upload my own and I’ll be a fan forever.
Google Music provides just this. It syncs your personal library (up to 10,000 songs, I think), and gives access to a Spotify-level streaming library.
Hm… Will investigate, thank you. :)
spotify is a music streaming service.
itunes is a music player and store, movie player and store, podcast player and store, tv player and store, app store, book store, ringtone store, streaming radio player, cloud storage service, and device sync service. (i probably missed a few)
point being: the difference here is focus.
I use both. iTunes for the music that I've acquired over the years and Spotify for finding new music.
I also pay for iTunes Match and Spotify premium. It's around $150/year together. That seems like a fair deal to me.
If you don't need the cloud check http://swinsian.com/ - it's working very well for me and ID3 tagging is ten times faster than iTunes on many files.
Something else that Apple should do is create a web-based version of iTunes.
Spotify, Rdio, Deezer and Google Play Music can all be accessed via the web, so why can't iTunes?
I've been with rdio for a very long time, but yeah. iTunes has always been annoying to use. However, if iTunes fixed their user issues, I doubt too many people would switch from a streaming service back to itunes pay to own. Unless this guy is strictly using spotify to play music he owns, both products are fundamentally different.
That's a good point I tried to address at the beginning. It's true, they are fundamentally different. Originally I hated the idea of a subscription model. But I find myself paying for a yearly subscription to iTunes Match and realizing, if I'm going to pay, it might as well be to get access to everything. I've been hoping iTunes will switch to a subscription based model.
I'm pretty sure apple has enough cash on hand to just buy Spotify outright. I, for one, wouldn't mind if they skipped an iPad model's development budget next year and just bought Spotify and absorbed that talent into the Apple ecosphere. FYI I'm a Spotify Premium user since 2013.
On the other hand, it's brilliant that Spotify is creating enough disruption that iTunes is becoming more obviously obsolete.
Death to iTunes!
Yes... so that it may rise reborn from the ashes!
not going to happen. as tim cook said, they bought beats to compete with spotify
"4. The BACK button"
Totally. But where's the keyboard shortcut?
