Very disappointing landing page. While I expect Real Mac to do something decent, I don't see why on earth I'd want anything to do with this. If the software's not yet ready, at least entice me with something. Not a video of wheat.
Hey Jodi,
Thanks for the feedback. More details will be announced soon (with more frequent updates via email signup). The video does tie into the app (promise!), but as we’ve not yet revealed some of the finer details I can understand the confusion.
Cheers,
—Nik
Nature sounds like Ommwriter/Noisli?
I may be mistaken, but it doesn't appear as if you have revealed any details, or anything at all. I signed up because I love realmac and I love markdown but was also disappointed by the fact that there is absolutely nothing about what this product actually is (other than a markdown editor) anywhere that I could find.
To piggyback on this, the confirmation message when signing up says that more details are being emailed immediately. All you really get is more promises of details at a later date. womp womp
Please give me one reason why I should sign up? The page isn't doing a very good job convincing me.. (as in: no information, just a video of... nature..?)
Hey Joey,
We’re going to be sharing details (icon design, thought process and loads of other design and product-related info) through infrequent emails.
Cheers,
—Nik
I signed up after I read
Sign up to receive an exclusive preview of Typed for Mac.
I even tweeted their link thinking I would get access to a beta build of the product, some screenshots, or a video. I soon realized that it was just an email. Best suggestion is to wait until they have more to show. I've already unsubscribed and deleted the tweet.
I also thought I was getting an actual link to a pre-release version of the app.
"Your best work isn’t written, it’s Typed." "Your New Favourite Markdown Editor for Mac."
the tone of this is just pretentious and repellent. I wonder where real value and humility has gone.
Thanks for the feedback, Pete!

Here's what their "thanks for signing up for the mailing list" email said about Typed:
What is Typed?
Typed is a brand new minimalist Markdown editor. We’re building Typed because we write a lot of Markdown, and weren’t happy with the other apps out there. Markdown is something we’re aiming to support widely in our apps both now and in the future, and it goes without saying that Typed will be receiving frequent updates!
System Requirements?
We’ll be supporting OS X Mavericks and newer when Typed launches, and as you’d expect we’ll be making sure Typed looks stunning on OS X Yosemite too.
What about iOS?
Right now, we’re focused on building Typed for Mac. With OS X Yosemite’s new iCloud Drive feature, you’ll be able to use your favourite iOS text editor and still edit documents in Typed when at your Mac.
When & where can I buy It?
Typed will be available via both the Mac App Store and the Realmac Store. We haven’t announced pricing yet, but as soon as we have more details to share with you, you’ll be the first to know
Thanks for helping to spread the word, Tanner ;)

I like that:
"When can I buy it?" "We're not telling you now."
Not going to pile on to the existing criticism.
Needless to say, I did not sign up.
The thing is... every new markdown editor is the best one ever. It'll have all the really necessary features other markdown editors have (you know, like markdown parsing), and a bunch of features that everyone is so super-excited about — features they'll never use. Of course, those features are what set it apart from other editors.
I bought Byword when it came out. I've been using it ever since. I'm not saying it's the best editor, but it does all I want it to do. I can write, preview and export. Yay! Sure, it can't tell me which of my words are nouns, but I'm glad the developer(s) thought I'd be able to figure that out without their help, being the person that does the actual writing.
Thoughts
Hi Ian,
Our email provider is seeing a short delay in processing new signups (currently seems to be running about 20 minutes behind, which isn’t what we’d hoped, but its being worked on. A’ll emails are configured by us to go out immediately, of course). We’ll be sharing details in frequent email updates for those who want to know more.
—Nik
Cool thanks, guess your email provider is being swamped right now :)
Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with.
I’d like to say it’s simply because of us, but that would be a big stinkin’ lie ;) Thanks for the interest in the app - we’re incredibly excited about sharing more details in the next few weeks!

If using Typed makes me feel, like i was flying over a forest, or resting in a bamboo forest, i'll sign up.
This is a non-announcement.
"Sign up to receive an exclusive preview of Typed for Mac." Sounds like you will actually get beta software or at the minimum a visual preview of the product. None of this was delivered.
All that being said, I'm super excited about this. Our whole team uses Markdown. Looking forward to an actual preview.
I value Realmac, but I'm not signing up just yet. There are plenty of good Markdown editors and I'm not really looking for a new one.
This better be good.
Wow, that's a hell of a claim with absolutely no explanation as to why. Also, you'll never break me and Mou apart!
I am looking forward to this. Having used Mou and Lightpaper, I find the preview scroll updating not able to keep up.
I supposed Typed will have custom theme also.
Sidebar folder panel is also a must just like Lightpaper as I write a lot of documentation and need to jump around the .md files alot.
Eager to see what this new MD editor will do :)
