I'm using GitHub Pages (http://pages.github.com/) to host my personal site for free, and managing my domain name through DNSimple (https://dnsimple.com/) which costs me a grand total of $14.00 per year. I'm actually paying for a GitHub account so I can have private repos, but if you don't mind your site's code being open-source then you can host it for free there. Uptime has been fine.

Mediatemple have the best uptime I've ever seen. Their Grid plan is 20$/month (I can refer you for 10% off if you want).

Rackspace and Amazon.

I use BlueHost personaly, which isn't brilliant. At work we use UKFast, who are ok, but we've only used their Windows Servers (client request), and 34sp, who host our external staging server, which works fine for what it does.

We've recently had to use Azure on a few sites, and I've been surprised at how good it is. Relatively cheap and as long as you don't all of a sudden max out your CPU or bandwidth (which has happened once), remains relatively cheap.

I use Heroku and Github Pages.

Another vote for github pages. I used to use Mediatemple but have been moving everything to github pages as of late. There is also the added benefit of having everything under source control as well.

Github pages also supports Jekyll which is worth looking into if your building your own site.

I've been using Heroku, but I'm now switching over to Amazon EC2. Both are free in their most basic forms, but require some know-how.

Also, I wouldn't go with one of the "Unlimited everything" plans, as I've been an active member on a couple of web software communities and these hosts are notoriously untrustworthy and restricting. They put caps in the fine print on things like how much data you can use at one time.

I haven't used them myself, but a trusted friend suggested Digital Ocean to me. https://www.digitalocean.com/ $5 p/m for a good sized VPS is their smallest package, and they have larger ones should you need them.

I use BlueHost. I pay $5.95 a month for unlimited everything. I've had no issues with uptime so far, and BlueHost support is great. No complaints at all.

I use Site5 - $12 bucks per month for a multi user account, unlimited domains, space, etc. etc. You have the option to pay annually though.

Great all around and the service is top notch. Any time I had a question whether it was 5pm or AM they helped me out.

We have a few reseller accounts with hostgator that we use to provide hosting for our client sites. Looks like there are a lot of Media Temple users here. Is there any particular reason you all chose them for you hosting?

dreamhost and heroku

Nodejitsu, command line deploys at $3/month or less. DigitalOcean is a solid choice though if you can nail the server setup and deploy process!

I'm using Uberspace http://uberspace.de/ (unfortunately their site is in german only).

The cool thing: they have no fixed pricing, you can pay what you want (as long as it is more than €1/month). Uptime is fine and you get more features than the most hosters offer for expensive $40/m plans. Definitely the best hoster for developers out there - I only wish they would care a little more about international.

I use Linode and 6Sync personally, and we use Media Temple at Dribbble. I highly recommend all three!
