ASK DN: Which password manager do you use?

9 years ago from , Founder @Claan

Do you use any password manager app? If so, which one do you recommend and why do you use it? Right now I use OSX Keychain to store passwords and secure notes but it is not the most convenient way. I don't autosave passwords for banking sites or server services and keep copy&paste them from secure notes, which is no ideal solutions. I have heard good things about 1Password for the Mac and LastPass as a hosted solution.

1Password - I've tried several and none of them compare.

I use 1Password and every power Mac user should use it as it helps managing all the credentials and I don't have to enter passwords every time I login in any site. Quick, and Powerful.

Thanks so much for all the awesome comments everyone! I'm the lead designer for 1Password. Really appreciate seeing so many other designers using and liking the app I work on every day :)

I tried LastPass out of curiosity and came running back to 1Pass in no time. Congrats on a great product!

Been using LastPass for quite some while. Simple and effective. Cross-platform too; web interface + plugin for Chrome + app for Windows 8 + app for Blackberry 10 = I am set.

1Password - And yesterday I spent the whole day change all my logins to different passwords. It's awesome!

Edit: And it's working great with Alfred!

Some friends have started using Locko as a cheaper alternative to 1Password. I'm happy enough with how 1P works, the last update fixed my only complaints about it :D

I use Enpass http://enpass.sinew.in . Free for OSX. Passlocker is a good solution for managing passwords http://www.innovationbox.com/passlocker/

I just did the whole comparison shopping thing and I cam out using Dashlane and so far I really like it. It keeps record of receipts too, helps you generate pws, multiple logins to the same site, and decent looking UI

1Password for all my logins and also for my software licenses out of the app store. Works great with all my devices.

1Password has a clean, effective UI for parsing your data. It's cross platform. And they're pretty transparent about their security as well (I mean, you can't see their underlying encryption source code, so that might not win all takers).

Their auto-login tools are smashing though. I mean, it's such a time saver on mobile as well.

    Worth every penny.

Used Lastpass, Dashlane and now 1password. Loving 1password a whole lot more than the other 2.

I did have high hopes for Dashlane, but their design choices forced me to rethink using them.

I use 1Password and it's saved my ass a few times. Worth whatever price they are charging IMO.

I use the desktop and iOS app and sync via iCloud (they have Dropbox and wifi syncing too).

It was a few years ago but lastpass got hacked and I've decided to stay away from them, myself. Sloppy security with my password treasure trove is a deal breaker.
