Bloggin Platform Preference?

over 9 years ago from , The BHW Group

Hey Folks,

I'm finally scratching the itch and launching a blog/catalog to document, store and be a resource for Micro, Mini and small Homes.

I'm deciding between a few different blogging platforms. I've already eliminated Medium, Wordpress and Tumblr. They aren't what I'm looking for, given the frequency of posts and their content.

It's between Roon and Ghost. Both are very intuitive, beautiful and have strong mobile apps.

Have any of you tried either? Is there a really nice third (or fourth) option I haven't discovered yet? Looking for opinions - and as always - thank you in advance!

What do you mean by "document, store, and be a resource"? Are you actually blogging about Micro, Mini, and small Homes, or curating content? Ghost really works best as a blogging platform unless you try to hack it into content curation rather than creation.

There will be blogging (long-form writing) and other posts will be primarily HD photography (photo-essays) of the homes. Another feature I'd like is to show off some AfterEffects animations in a DIY Instructional section. Probably show them as animated Gifs so you wouldn't have to click on them to see them working.

Ah ok. That sounds really neat. Squarespace is great for not getting super into the coding aspect of the setup but still gives to option. Ghost is still working out some of the minor things that would make that kind of content really possible.

Yeah, I've read that Ghost has a pretty ambitious feature-list it wants to get going - but as for now - its not there.

I think, longterm (and to avoid any switchover) I may just go with Squarespace. Thank you!

Hi there, I have in the past used Wordpress/Tumblr and now I'm trying Medium. Squarespace also have a little blog engine on the side (which is simple but nice). Hope you'll find the adequate tool!
