I use RescueTime to passively track productivity in apps and websites. It gives you a live dashboard that shows you a productivity score. pretty sweet

Note: This is a plug, but I would recommend it anyway.

I use Today, an app I’ve just taken design duties of.

I find it especially useful as a CSV export of tasks that I’ve worked on (including meetings on my synced iCloud Calendars).

Today comes from a motivated team that’s aiming to become a one-stop solution for time tracking, invoicing, reports and financial advice via series of small, powerful mobile apps. We’re specifically targeting small businesses and freelancers (especially designers and developers).

The first app is on the iOS App Store and has a new, completely refreshed redesign coming out very soon.

I use http://toggl.com, there is a free version that is suitable for freelancers or small teams.

I would recommend you to give a try to the cloud based hours tracking solution from Replicon - http://www.replicon.com/olp/hours-tracking-software.aspx . Along with the time tracking and management this tool is also meant for the task management, project hours tracking and many more other modules which makes it an intuitive tool to work with.

https://paydirtapp.com/ is pretty good and also has browser extensions that alert you when it looks like you’re doing client work so you don’t forget to track time.

I tried Harvest, Freckle, ThriveSolo, and Ballpark.

Ballpark was the only one that didn't try to do too much, and made it easy to both track and review time spent. There are still some small issues with defaults (I never want to see blank screens when there is potentially data to show), but of the ones I've tried it is the best.

I have always sucked at time sheets. I've been looking for a good automated app to do it for me for a very long time. The best I have found thus far is TimeTracker from Creativeworx which I love! http://www.creativeworx.com

It was made by former Adobe employees (if I recall correctly). The free version works with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign/InCopy and Flash Professional - the paid Pro version adds some other apps like Office and some others.

I love that I can just fire up the tools I use and if I'm working on documents within folders I've assigned to projects then time is tracked for me, I don't have to do anything beyond assign projects.

The interface and reports are clean and easy to use and hey - how much better can you do that free?

I'd love your feedback (and the DN community's) to see if we're headed in the right direction. Our focus is on small teams and making sure time gets entered in the first place.

I use iCal. That way I see everything that I've done this week or the last week, I can use shift+click to adjust events by the minute, I use only two calendars (work related and private). Since we have an secretary, I just note my hours per task/project at the end of the week then report in inside our timesheets. It's simple but it works for me.

I've been using Harvest and its Mac application for quite a while now. Works great for me.
