I have just replaced Proxima Nova with Comic Neue on all my websites. Lovely font!

Hey guys. The response to Comic Neue has been amazing. Last night it was trending worldwide on Twitter alongside the death of Mickey Rooney, and made the front pages of Mashable, Verge, Reddit et al.

This was a three year side project of mine, but it's not finished. Based on how well it's been received I'm now looking for a freelance typographer to put some polish on it.

I've posted on typophile.com, but if any of you know a professional freelance typographer who would be interested in some paid work please get in touch at craig at craigrozynski.com

    Thanks!

There's been so much positive feedback — great work! I look forward to seeing what you do with it next.

I can definitely see myself using it in some projects.

In terms of typefaces, I'd say that "better than Comic Sans" is one half step above "not existing in the first place".

The creator of Comic Sans thinks Comic Neue is... https://twitter.com/VincentConnare/status/453289399313514497

Amazingly well done. It must be the ultimate challenge for a type designer.

I'm pretty excited that I can actually read this. I have that strange designer deficiency where comic sans is impossible to read.

Reminds me of this typeface called Serious Sans that this studio Julia made a few years ago. The presentation of the project is weird—if it isn't clear they're side-by-side comparisons. http://www.julia.uk.com/en/projects/serioussans/01.html (the slideshow nav is hard to spot but it's the <1/6> at tope.

It's like giving Comic Sans a facelift. I like it. There are times you need something casual. This is not bad at all.

FYI: I also use Sketchnote for "casual font".

It's dressed up and well made, but the thing is it'll never outshine it's uglier shoutier cousin and will always be shackled with the stigma. As a way of getting PR for the designer I can see it's been a useful exercise, but I'd not use this font. Ever.

If I was a teacher, or a local daycare, I'd use the shit out of this.

That's exactly what Comic Sans was created for.

The reason why comic sans has such a bad reputation isn't that it's that bad a font (it isn't great) but it's misappropriation, and short-sighted inclusion as a windows system font — and the readiness it's used for all manner of unsuitable applications, like Kebab shops or emails.
